"Follow Me" | Original Dramedy Series

Created by Patrick Biesemans

After her carefully-planned life collapses around her, a selfish 27-year-old New Yorker hatches a plan to solve her loneliness and financial woes at the same time—by inventing a fake guru and starting a cult.

Author’s Note:

I grew up in a cult. Well, some people called it a cult. My parents called it a “New Age personal growth support group.” The woman who led it called it “one big happy family.” We processed our feelings. We rebirthed. We talked to channelers who summoned the spirits of interdimensional beings.

It wasn’t just my parents’ group in my neighborhood. We hung out at Sundance Natural Foods in Eugene, Oregon, and shopped alongside Ken Kesey’s Merry Pranksters and the Bhagwan’s cult followers—their red robes always gave them away. That’s the world I grew up in.

FOLLOW ME is based on my life in a cult run by a charismatic and narcissistic female leader—updated to show just how alluring her ideas still are today.
